Our Story – Where It All Began… 🐸🌿
Leaping Frogs started as a tiny preschool with a big dream in 2002, founded by two sisters, Victoria Oram and Becky Davies, in the little town of Mere. With support from their wonderful mum Wendy—an experienced early years educator—they set out to create something special: a warm, nurturing place where children could learn through play with a gentle touch of structure.
For Victoria, the dream was deeply personal. Her two daughters were born profoundly deaf, and it was tough finding the right setting to support their speech and language development alongside their hearing peers. After countless journeys to specialist centres and gathering a wealth of knowledge along the way, Victoria decided: if the perfect preschool didn’t exist, she’d build it herself!
Together with Becky’s creativity, Wendy’s experience, and Victoria’s passion for communication-rich learning, Leaping Frogs Kindergarten was born. What started in a tiny shop space (mostly filled with their own children!) quickly grew into a buzzing, beloved local preschool.
But the biggest leap came in 2012, when Becky spotted a call for community use of an old, overgrown picnic site in Zeals. The sisters rolled up their sleeves and, with help from family and friends, transformed it into the rural wonderland that is now Leaping Frogs Day Nursery CIC.
Set on 1.2 acres of countryside, with miniature ponies, goats, ducks, chickens and rabbits, and surrounded by trees, gardens and adventure, Leaping Frogs became everything they’d dreamed of: a place where children thrive through outdoor exploration, creativity, and a whole lot of muddy fun!
Now with three vibrant classrooms for different age groups and an Outstanding Ofsted rating (twice!), Victoria and Becky continue to pour their hearts into this magical place.
